The SafeHouse Habitat is Ex / ATEX certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres - Zones 1 + 2.
The best feature of the habitat is its simplicity - a standard habitat can be safely installed and its integrity demonstrated in only a few hours. The installation of a basic habitat can be achieved with one Technician.
The habitat's modular flexible panels allow easy installation in all locations, whether it is congested wellhead modules or in confined void spaces.
- The range of basic panels can overcome any complex or inaccessible application.
- All the panels are interchangeable and there is no requirement to cut or fabricate special sections.
- The panels are manufactured from high specification flame retardant material that is extremely durable.
- There is no requirement for power or hand tools to assemble the habitat, a basic scaffold frame is all that is required to provide suitable anchor points.
- All the component parts are lightweight. The heaviest element is the air lock section which weighs 25kilos.
-
There is no waste. All the panels and equipment can be re-used for concurrent or progressive activities.

Flexibility
The base Safehouse habitat unit is 2m long x 2m wide x 2m high and comprises only 6 panels plus the supply and extract components, the habitat can be enlarged by simply adding additional 2m x 2m or 2m x 1m panels to form habitats of 4m x 4m x 2m or 3m x 2m x 4m.
The potential dimensions and configurations are virtually limitless.
Panels are zipped together and sealed internally. Panels can incorporate openings of various sizes which allow pipework, structural steel and other components to be included in the habitat. These openings are resealed to ensure that pressurisation is maintained. Panels can be removed easily to allow rigging, pipework to be brought inside or removed from the habitat and then re-sealed quickly. Unlike rigid habitats, SafeHouse Habitats can be quickly dismantled and moved to another location for re-use.
We utilise a range of ancillary equipment to accommodate every Operator's requirements.
Ease Of Use
The habitats modular design lends itself to ease of installation, the panels are simply zipped together to form a 6 sided cube, the panels are all interchangeable within the cube allowing identical panels to be used for different configured habitats, in practice this means that the same panels can be installed as roof, floor, sides or back walls as determined by the application.
The feature of the Safehouse panels is that they are all standard components but still possess the ability to function in all applications irrespective of the degree of difficulty and irrespective of whether the location is a congested wellhead or a confined space like a void between 2 modules.
Speed of Installation
The basic habitat can be installed by one technician in a few hours. The habitat can be up and running with integrity proved in accordance with the operating specification.
Similarly the habitat can be moved from installation one to another very quickly contributing to the project schedule.
Another important feature is that an in-situ Safehouse can be "flat packed" in minutes when it becomes necessary, this has occurred in the case of severe weather warnings; the habitats were safely dismantled and re-installed with the minimum of impact to the project schedule.
A case in point was when hurricane Ivan swept over the Carribean Sea, the habitats which were installed offshore were dismantled and flat packed in the matter of a couple of hours then re-inflated when the storm had passed through, causing minimum disruption to the project schedule.
Air Change Calculator
This can be used to calculate an
approximation of the air change rate/time for one change provided the habitat dimensions and fan output are known. The habitat must be at constant pressure to obtain good results.
Enter habitat dimensions, in metres, and click "Calculate volume". Remember to recalculate if you change anything. If you prefer you can skip this and input the volume directly.
